In line with the continuous efforts and commitments of Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences towards the enhancement of quality gifted education around the world, the World Giftedness Center has introduced the Applied Research Global Award of Talented Education. The launch of this award represents one of the unique initiatives of Hamdan Foundation to support global research in gifted education, talent development and related areas. It is offered to international scientists who have published outstanding and innovative research in the areas of giftedness and talent development, as well as areas related to these topics. The award honors scientists whose work has contributed to shape the research field and its future through scientific excellence. The submission should be research published in a journal with appropriate standards within the last two years as of the application’s point of submission.

Applied Research Global Award of Talented Education

The launch of the award by Hamdan Bin Rashed Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences Performance represented by the World Giftedness Center is one of its unique initiatives to support best practices and outstanding efforts in gifted education, talent development, and related areas. The main goal of the award is to stimulate global efforts to advance gifted education in schools and provide dynamic support for the community of gifted and talented learners. The award is intended for all school educators such as teachers, principals, and counselors involved in gifted education in public or private schools from KG through pre-university all over the globe. Any of those aforementioned individuals or groups who have made eminent contributions in serving gifted and talented students may apply for this award.

Mentees are driven by their motivation to learn and become the best in their STEMM area(s). They grab every opportunity to emerge at the top in their chosen topic, including happily spending their free time studying their STEMM subject of choice.</p>

<p class="vjs-tech mb-2 text-sm text-wgc-300 font-thin  text-justify">Students enter Global Talent Mentoring around the age of 16 years (in secondary or tertiary education) where they are connected with STEMM experts from all over the world. Exceptionally talented and exceptionally driven, mentees are the very best students in their country, with many ranking at top of their national percentile. Students are typically nominated by our partners, which include talent development organizations, schools, and other types of organizations. Once nominated, prospective mentees complete our detailed application process. From this pool, Global Talent Mentoring selects the brightest and most motivated applicants to participate as mentees.</p>

Since then, HF’s different awards have undergone significant developments and growths at the local, regional, and international levels. In 2008, for example, HF inaugurated the UNESCO-Hamdan Prize to support and enhance best practices in teaching and learning at an international level. In line with these continuous efforts and commitments towards the enhancement of quality gifted education around the world, the WGC has initiated two more specialized awards: School Global Award Initiative of Gifted Education and Applied Research Global Award of Gifted Education. The launch of these awards is one of the sole initiatives of the WGC to support and encourage distinguished efforts in gifted education and talent development. The main goal of these awards is to encourage and support global efforts to develop and promote best practices within the field of giftedness. Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences announced the accreditation of the results of the World Giftedness Center Awards, which include the Applied Research Global Award of Gifted Education and the School Global Award for Gifted Education. Six countries from different regions participated in the Applied Research Global Award of Gifted Education, with a total of six research projects. As for School Global Award for Gifted Education, nine countries participated, presenting a total of 14 initiatives. Two initiatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America were among the winning initiatives.

It is worth mentioning that the World Giftedness Center Awards were launched simultaneously with the inauguration of the World Giftedness Center in October 2021 during the Expo Dubai 2020 events. The awards aim to support ongoing efforts to create a better educational environment for the gifted worldwide and leverage global expertise and best practices in this field for wider dissemination.

The judging process for these awards is conducted by an international arbitration body comprising global experts in these fields. The awards target Ph.D. researchers in the field of gifted education and care, as well as individuals working in schools with initiatives and private projects in the field of gifted education and care.

The World Giftedness Center is one of the distinctive initiatives of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences. It aims to enhance the education and care of gifted individuals, providing necessary support to various countries worldwide. As part of the cooperation between Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences and the United Arab Emirates University, a team from the World Giftedness Center - one of the Foundation's initiatives - participated in the Open Day of the College of Education at the University on Tuesday, October 31st, 2023. The Open Day is aimed at students of the eleventh and twelfth grades to familiarize themselves with the academic departments, specialties, and programs of the College, and it provides an opportunity for local institutions cooperating with the College to introduce and showcase their programs and initiatives directed at students.

At the kind invitation of New York University Abu Dhabi, Dr. Zulaikha Al Blooshi and Ms. Huda Al Hammadi from Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences gave a comprehensive presentation on the Global Talent Mentoring Program at the university's campus, on Wednesday the 04th of October 2023. The presentation concluded with a Q&amp;A session. The visit also included a tour for the Foundation's delegates around the campus.
